Russian Brides: The Real Truth Behind The Hype
The iron curtain has long since fallen and with it has come the romantic opportunity of a lifetime. Over the past two decades there have been two major developments that opened the doors to Russian women. Not to long ago, Russia was not a place most would visit. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, this has changed greatly.
Add to this the proliferation of the Internet and you get an explosive combination of factors that has lead to a boom in Russia's mail order bride industry. Just typing that word leaves a tingle in my fingers, because it's a horrible name for what should really be called International Dating or Cross Cultural Romance, even Love Beyond Boarders.
Most people don't think of and abundance of beautiful single women when they think of Russia. Most people think of Communism, Vodka drinking macho Russian men, and Cold weather. The reality is that Russia is a country filled with warm single women, despite the cold weather the country suffers through for most of the year. With a warm Russian woman around your arm you might not even feel the bitter cold of Siberia.
The fact is that Russia has a demographic problem. There are more women then men. If you've ever met a Russian man who has grown up in Russia, he will attest to that, but you can also do your own research and look up Russia's demographics.
The problem with Russia's demographic problem is that Russian men have some of the shortest life expectancies in the world. Many men die young due to many reasons including violence, alcoholism. Apart from that many Russian men have migrated to Eastern Europe and places as far as the United States, leaving many women behind who just can't find a Russian guy who isn't committed.
The truth is that the International Dating movement whether it be through a marriage agency, romance tour, or just some random social networking site or internet dating site, attempts to connect some of these Russian women with Western bachelors such as American or Canadian men.
Like any relationship, things may not always work out. There are language differences to overcome, as well as cultural differences and other considerations such as distance. However, the global dating movement leaves both Russian women and American and Western men with a second choice.
What starts off as a friendly online conversation between two strangers, oceans apart, can develop into a fruitful cross cultural relationship. And who knows, you might even get yourself an amazing Russian bride.
Gone are the days of only having one choice: To look for love locally. You can now extend your search for companionship beyond boarders, and right now, Russia is one of the best places in the world to start looking.
